Do Not Forsake Your Mothers Teaching
Mother's Day helps slow us down to appreciate everything our mothers taught us, and remember how they taught us.
Proverbs 1:8-10 & 6:20-23
1. King Solomon stated the purpose of his collected proverbs
- to give wisdom for (godly life) v1:1-6
2. The source of true wisdom is (God)! v1:7
Wisdom is expressed in
- your father's (instruction) (commands)
- your mother's (teaching) (law = torah)
3. All who seek wisdom are exhorted
- to listen and keep
- do not (forsake) --> active rejection, or passive neglect
- bind wisdom upon your heart and fasten it around your neck (1:9, 6:21)
4. The 1st principle for () 1:10
- if sinners entice you, do not give in to them!
- learn to make wise choices considering long range (), not just short range ()!
5. There are () of doing life wisely
- guidance in () - commands are a ()
- watching over in () - teaching isa ()
- speaking when () - corrections of discipline are the ()
Wisdom will keep you from sin and its tragic consequences!

6. Parents have a great opportunity and responsibility - proverbs 22:6
- mold children's unique character towards God!
- teach them how to choose the right way!
