GROWTH GROUPS @ VICTORY
December 9, 2008
|
The early Christian Church started with people gathering in Growth groups. They met in people’s homes, broke bread together and offered hope and mutual support to one another. This community atmosphere where everyone knew each other became an essential ingredient in the spread of their faith to others. Our growth group ministry is based on this Biblical foundation and is designed to raise our “spiritual temperatures” and unleash our God-given potential.
Growth groups provide a safe place where people can connect, share life’s burdens, get support, study the bible, ask questions and get equipped for serving God. The joy that stems from growing and developing a loving relationship with God enables us to see our friends and relatives through the eyes of Christ, making us want to share our lives and our faith.
Victory Baptist Church is pleased to offer a variety of Growth groups and Bible studies to meet the need for community and discipleship in our growing church family! Each group is unique, but each is committed to creating an environment where those who attend will “grow in Christ likeness, care for one another, serve the Body of Christ, and share the message of Christ with others.”
In this directory, groups are broken into general categories to make it easier to find one that fits you or your family the best. Call the leader of the group to learn more about the unique qualities of that particular group. No matter which group you end up attending, I’m sure that you’ll find warm fellowship and a place where you can grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ.
If you have any questions, or need some guidance in finding the right group for you, don’t hesitate to the church office at (905) 853-3418.
Study Members dig deeply into God’s Word. “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15
Relationships Friendships are built and nurtured with others in the group. “By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35
Authenticity The atmosphere in the group encourages openness and transparency among members. “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self...” Colossians 3:9
Availability As relationships are established within the group, members are available and willing to meet each other’s needs wherever possible. “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2
Respect Group members edify and encourage one another. “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians 4:29
Additional information about any of the above Growth Groups is available at the Church on the Growth Groups Information board, or by contacting the leader whose number is available in the Church Directory, or calling the Church Office.
Note: Our Growth Groups may change from time to time! Please keep an eye on the Growth Groups bulletin board in the main hallway and our weekly bulletin for new groups, changes in time and place, etc. Call the group leader to let him/her know you’re coming!
